Indira Hale-Tucker & Doris Cooper-Robinson
Scholarship
Mrs. Indira Hale-Tucker, along with Mrs. Doris Cooper-Robinson were founding members of the Long Beach Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc when it was originally chartered in 1988. These two women had a vision to bring children together to fellowship and create lifelong friendships. Mrs. Robinson served as the chapter’s first president and set the stage for years of tradition for present and future Jack & Jill members. Currently, Mrs. Robinson serves as the current President of the Harbor Area Chapter of The Links, Incorporated and Principal of Bryant Elementary School. Mrs. Hale-Tucker is an official historian in the city of Long Beach and is co-founder and current president of the African American Heritage Society of Long Beach. She was also instrumental in developing the African American resource section at the Burnette library in Long Beach. Both of these women are passionate about the growth and development of children as well as improving their quality of life. In honor of these chartering members, our chapter has established the Indira Hale-Tucker and Doris Cooper-Robinson Scholarship, which will benefit two college bound Long Beach high school students.
Last year we awarded over $8,500 in scholarships!
